Please watch this video which gives an overview of the many misconceptions existing about the Middle East. Please help us to dispel these stereotypes by adding YOUR stories to bindingborders.org. Send us your views on how you think the Middle East is being misunderstood in a short 1-2 minute video to turnerpayne@bindingborders.org. We want to hear from you and would love to feature you on our website.

Binding Borders: About Us

How We're Helping

BindingBorders.org’s mission is to create a forum for high school students from the U.S. and the Middle East to share their stories, bridge cultures and connect communities. Binding Borders believes that the more our cultures connect, the more we can create ties that bind and bring us together.

About Binding Borders Founder Turner Payne:

I launched BindingBorders.org as a sophomore at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in Bethesda Maryland. Too often misconceptions and negative stereotypes dominate relations between students from the U.S and the Middle East. This initiative is designed to address these divides and bring our cultures and communities closer together. Join us!

Get Involved

Help us to break down the cultural stereotypes that too often divide us by sharing your stories and insights. When answering these questions below, please remember not to contribute to negative stereotypes, we want to hear about your personal experiences and ideas on how to improve relations between the U.S. and the Middle East!

Send us a short 3-minute video of yourself answering some of the following questions:

  • What are some perceptions of the Middle East in your community?
  • What are some consequences of those perceptions? (Be as specific as you can and speak from personal experiences or events that you have witnessed in your community).
  • What are a few important things you wish your community knew about your country and culture?
  • If there is one stereotype about your culture you wish you could change, what would it be?
  • What do you think you could be doing in your community to address the problems resulting from these perceptions?

Thank You

Whether you help by sharing your stories on video, making donations to help fund cultural exchanges between U.S. and Middle Eastern students or volunteering your time to help us spread our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you! Thank you from the whole team at

Binding Borders!
